It has been reported that South Korean striker Ha Tae-Goon may leave Chinese Super League (CSL) side Yanbian before the 2017 season starts on March 3.
According to the CSL rules made by the Chinese Football Association (CFA), each team is allowed to have a maximum of five foreign footballers. But Yanbian has six non-Chinese players on its roster now.
Ha scored 26 goals in the 2015 season for Yanbian, helping the team upgrade to the CSL from the Chinese League One. But the 29-year-old forward only contributed two goals to Yanbian last season, including a six-month goal drought.
In December 2016, Ha said he would stay on for the 2017 season.
But Yanbian signed Richard Guzmics in January 2017 in a bid to enhance its defense. The Hungarian international would take Ha's spot as a non-Chinese player, according to Yanbian Daily.
Ha may be transferred to a team in the Chinese League One or a South Korean club before the new CSL season, the local newspaper said.
After winter training in South Korea, Yanbian, which finished ninth in the 2016 CSL season, will leave for China's southwestern city of Chongqing for its season opener against the home side, which finished eighth last season.
Yanbian eyes a top eight finish in the 16-team CSL for the 2017 season.
