German stocks extend losses, down more than 4%

German share prices tumbled more than 4.0 percent in early afternoon trade on Monday, the first day of business in 2016, with investor sentiment soured by losses in Asian stock markets earlier.
The blue-chip DAX 30 stock index, which had already fallen sharply when the session opened, subsequently tumbled 4.3 percent to an intraday low of 10,283.64 points in early afternoon.
