Russia's Central Election Commission on Monday unanimously rejected top opposition figure Alexei Navalny's bid to run against President Vladimir Putin in the presidential election next year.
The commission voted 12 to zero in rejecting Navalny's presidential bid, citing his controversial conviction of embezzlement for which he received a suspended sentence of five years.
Navalny contends the conviction was politically motivated.
