An Algerian policeman was killed Thursday when he threw himself on a suicide bomber before the attacker's explosives belt detonated, state media said, citing the police department.
The officer had intervened when the attacker tried to enter the police headquarters in the region of Tiaret, about 350 kilometres (220 miles) southwest of the capital Algiers, the official APS news agency reported.
