Two people were hurt in a blast in central Kiev Thursday as Ukraine was celebrating Independence Day, police said, indicating that it was caused by an "unknown object".
"At 1406 (1206 GMT) we received information about an explosion of an unknown object," a police statement said of the incident which occurred on the same day US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis was visiting the capital.
