Solving an energy problem in Egypt is key to implementing comprehensive development plans in the country, says the minister of industry and trade.
General Electric International is currently working on a number of projects in the field of power generation, Mounir Fakhri Abdel Nour said in a statement issued after his meeting with a delegation of the company earlier Wednesday.
Those are the projects agreed during the Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC), which was held in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh mid March, Abdel Nour said.
Hopefully, the projects would help narrow the gap between electricity needs of production sectors and what is actually available, the minister noted.
Abdel Nour said the meeting also tackled investment opportunities, especially that GE is seeking to expand its business in Egypt.
