Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy said seven water plants were inaugurated in Assuit governorate.
This came after a trilateral committee of ministries of environment, health and irrigation took samples from 10 water plants to make sure that the water is matching the standards.
The minister has ordered the committee to take samples of the water every two hours to make sure that the water is safe before inaugurating the seven water plants.
Another three water plants are expected to be inaugurated after the committee checks their water.
Egypt’s Environment Minister, Khaled Fahmy inaugurated the first session of African Environment Ministers conference, which held in Cairo nowadays.
Fahmy pointed out that the conference will focus this week on how to manage, and use natural capital in a sustainable manner taking into account the biological diversity and environmental balance of the region.
Fahmy said in his word during the conference that the ministry provided all the facilities, which would contribute to the success of this conference.
He added that Egypt has regained its palce in the African continent, which would entail exercising a more active role in manufacturing the technology of generating renewable energy via wind and solar resources.
The minister highlighted the necessity of implementing the power production strategy discussed by the African ministers of environment in 4 months at least, given the fact that the Egyptian plan aims to raise production rates to 20% by 2020, as part of power production matrix.
