Agriculture Minister Essam Fayed asserted on Saturday that Egypt has taken a step to bolster food security when it started reclamation of one million and half feddans.
Addressing the 26th round of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) hosted by Berlin, the minister said the project would help Cairo bridging the gap between demand and supply on strategic crops.
Egypt is eyeing an active role to engage partnerships with various countries in a bid to achieve the sustainable development goals, he said.
The sustainable development will help the developing countries and increase the support given for them to establish new projects, the minister added.
Cairo developed a 2030 strategy for its agriculture sustainable development, the Fayed said.
On the sidelines of the conference, Fayed will hold several meetings with his counterparts, senior leaders of the international agriculture organizations, especially FAO.
The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) is an international conference that focuses on central questions concerning the future of the global agri-food industry.
