Abu Dhabi Police revealed plans to auction50 vanitynumber plates (category 50) in cooperation with Emirates Auction,on November 19th in the Emirates Palace Hotel. The event will mark Abu Dhabi’s Govrenment 50th anniversary.
Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters confirmed that “Category 50”will have a uniqueimpacton interested buyers and enthusiasts, as it has not been launched yet. In addition, the plates are within a limited edition that doesn’t exceed 50 exclusive numbers.
“This event will be organized to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Abu Dhabi Government,fifty years representing historical achievements and global successes achieved by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE”, said H.E. Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Romaithi. Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police.
“By organizing this auction and launching“Category 50”, we celebrate innovation and modernization that began in 1966 and targeted various domains of life in the UAE. Through this auction, we would like to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, who has played an active role in the development of Abu Dhabi for more than three decades”, he added.
Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi as director-general of Abu Dhabi Police said: “This initiative from Abu Dhabi Police to organize an auction for exclusive number plates in collaboration with Emirates Auctions, is a prestigiousoccasion to celebrate many initiatives that have contributed tostrengthening and enhancing the security of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,as well as stimulating the growth and diversification of the national economic”.
Abdulla Matar Al Mannaei, Managing Director of Emirates Auction expressed his most heart-felt wishes and congratulations to the country’sleadership on the 50th anniversary of the Government of Abu Dhabi. He also thanked Abu Dhabi Police fortheir efforts to maintain security and safety,in additiontheir constructive and influential social contributions.
Al Mannaei said the auction will encompass A total of 50 numbers of this category will be up for auction, including the number (1), in addition to (7, 10, 11, 22, 50, 66 and 999) and many other unique numbers.
Interested bidders are requested to arrive before the start of the auction and provide deposit insurance cheques at registration. They are also allowed to buy unspecified numbers of plates duringthe auction that will start from a nominal value for each plate.
In 2008, the UAE capital Abu Dhabi broke the world record as the most expensive number plate for the “Number 1”, fetching a whopping Dh52.2 million ($ 14 million) in a fierce bidding.
