Syrian actress Sulaf Fawakherji has said that "the Syrian crisis is over". "I am not considering what is happening in Syria as a revolution, it is just a riot. These people are the fuel for external forces, but not revolutionaries, they are hired to further external agendas," she said. She continued saying: "Democracy is beautiful…the Syrian people are for President Assad and he will not leave. Life is dignity." In an interview in the "Face and profile" program on OTV, regarding singer Asala Nasri's opposition to President Bashar Al-Assad's regime, Fawakherji said: "Asala is a very important artist and her beautiful voice and songs can not be denied, yet I am not convinced of her changing attitudes from time to time. If Asala had been a neutral person and had not sung for the regime, she would have had the right to oppose. Anyway, that's her opinion, despite the fact that she was not living in Syria and was singing for people from the late President Hafez Al-Assad to President Bashar Al-Assad. Even if she is justifying that by being afraid of the regime at that time, how could we make sure that she is not afraid now as well." Meanwhile, Fawakherji stressed that she accepted other opinions and that she cared about her country. In addition, she said: "The right man in the right place should be applied...that there will be neither a gap nor a barrier between the statesman and the citizen". The singer also said she hoped that the Syrian media would gain more freedom. Regarding the regime, she said: "We do not have a military regime, we have never lived under a military regime in Syria, yet, we were governed by discipline". At the end, she confirmed that the personality of 2011 was General Michel Aoun, after the programme presenter asked her to exclude President Assad.
