Rooney Mara has signed on to play Tiger Lily in the upcoming Warner Bros. adaptation of the Peter Pan tale, Pan. The Joe Wright-directed film will also star Hugh Jackman and Garrett Hedlund and sources claim open casting is being conducted to fill Peter Pan's role. The actor will need to be between the ages of 10 and 12. The film will put a new spin on the classic tale and will take place during World War II where an Orphan named Peter is kidnapped by pirates and taken to Neverland. There, he discovers that it's his destiny to save the land from pirate Blackbeard. Warner Bros. reportedly considered Lupita Nyonog'o and Adele Exarchopoulos before choosing Mara for the role. Jason Fuchs wrote the script and Greg Berlanti, Paul Webster and Sarah Schechter are producing. Pan is expected in theaters on July 17, 2015. Mara will next star in Todd Haynes' Carol alongside Oscar winner Cate Blanchett.
