A nervous Phil Collins returned to the stage -- but only for "One More Night" -- with student musicians at the school his children attend, the Miami Herald said Thursday.
The former leader of the band Genesis, who retired from the music scene in 2011 to spend more time with his two sons, performed with Miami Country Day School's middle school band last week, the newspaper said.
"How are you? I just want to say hello and thank you for having me," Collins said in a video of the concert that the Miami Herald posted on its website.
Collins, 63, who sold more than 100 million albums in his solo career after Genesis, said he was a little nervous about the performance, but that during rehearsals the students made him "feel part of the band."
The singer and drummer -- whose smash hits included ballad "One More Night" -- joined the students to play "In the Air Tonight" and "Land of Confusion."
Collins' former wife, Orianne Collins Mejjati, who lives in the area, told the paper that the singer agreed to the gig at the request of his son.
