Matt Smith has joined the cast of the upcoming Terminator reboot. The 31-year-old Doctor Who star has secured a role in Terminator: Genesis. Paramount Pictures announced Friday that Smith will play a "new character with a strong connection to John Connor." Terminator original Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to return as the Terminator/T-800. Jason Clarke will take on the role of John Connor, and Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke (no relation) has been cast as Sarah Connor. Jai Courtney, Dayo Okeniyi and Byung-hun Lee also star. Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor has been brought on to direct the new movie. Genesis is the fifth installment in the Terminator series; the original film debuted in 1984. Terminator: Genesis is scheduled for a July 1, 2015 release.
