Legendary Egyptian actress Laila Elwi has expressed her sadness about the recent violence and bloodshed in native country. The superstar, who is related to former president Hosni Mubarak, told Arab Today: “We were waiting for the dispersal of these non-peaceful sit-ins since giving a mandate to our armed forces and police to do so.” She added that she prayed for the protection of Egypt. The actress, who has over 70 films under her belt, starred in the Ramadan series Laila’s Wedding alongside Abdel-Rahman Abu-Zahra, Shady Khalaf, Nermeen Maher, Fares Said, Hossan Shaban and Salwa Mohamed Ali.
