The new TV series Ikram Mayyet is set to feature Egyptian singer and composer Essam Karika. He will take the role of Mustafa, a Tabla-player (the traditional Egyptian drum) who hangs out at a drug den run by Karkar al-Turabi (played by Mohammed Kamel). In the course of his visits to al-Turabi's establishment, he falls for Ilham (Inass el-Naggar). Admiring her figure, he persuades her to become a belly dancer. The series then follows Ilham's life, exploring how fate can impose a set of circumstances on a person and leave major life choices out of their control. Written by Diaa Dandash and directed by Khaled Bahgat, the series also stars Dunia Abdel Aziz, Salwa Khattab, Kamal Abu Raiya, Bassam Ragab, Mufeed Ashour, Menna Galal and Mahmoud Abdel Ghaffar.
