British actor John Simm is to lead the cast of the new Pacific Northwest-set paranormal drama "Intruders," BBC America announced. The contemporary show is from writer and executive producer Glen Morgan and is based on Michael Marshall Smith's novel. "After reading Glen Morgan's brilliant script, I knew I couldn't pass up the chance to play this complex character," Simm said in a statement Saturday. "It is also a great opportunity to reunite with Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner, and with BBC America." "I am thrilled to be working with John Simm, one of the U.K.'s most exciting talents, on the realization of Michael Marshall Smith's novel," Morgan said. "The BBC has always broken new ground in this genre and I look forward to playing a part in that tradition. Together with directors, Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Stamm, we plan to put a whole new spin on creepy." Simm is known for his work on the TV programs "Life on Mars," "State of Play" and "Doctor Who."
