Egyptian artist Hamada Helal expressed his delight at the reactions for his song, Taheya lel Shaab al Masry, (Salute to the Egyptian People) which was recently released on the ?internet. He pointed out that he dedicated the song to Egyptian people, policemen and the army. He revealed that he did not take part in the series Al Rakeen as he was worried about conflicts of scheduling in the shooting of both works. ? In an exclusive interview with Arab Today, Helal said that the song was dedicated to the people of Egypt who achieved their demands in June 30, overthrowing the Brotherhood regime, as a result of ?their determination.? The song was written by poet Mohamed Gomaa, and a video clip will be shot as soon as the ?photographic materials of the latest events in Egypt are ready.? On the recent developments in Egypt, Helal said: “I am optimistic about the future as long as the Egyptian people exist. They have proven to the whole world that the great people in the protests are geniuses as was demonstrated through their organisation and their creativity as seen by the laser designs that lit up Tahrir.” Helal denied belonging to the Brotherhood or the Salafis saying “I am only a Muslim who believes in one God. I don’t belong to a political movement either religious or partisan.” On turning down a part in the Al Rakeen, which is currently shown on a number of channels starring Mahmoud Abdel Moghny, Helal stated: “The rumour about a conflict between me and the Egyptian Media Production City is not true. I was worried about a conflict in schedules for both works, which prompted me to turn down the part, because it would have required complete dedication from me which was not possible at the time.” Helal wished the team of the series luck and expressed his disappointment in missing the chance to work with Gamal Abdel Hamed and Mahmoud Abdel Moghny. Concerning the latest news of his collaboration with the son of Sheikh Mohamed Hassan on a religious song, Helal commented: “The song is still being prepared because it is shot in different countries including India, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, which needs special preparations. I am really happy to be working with the son of Sheikh Hassan, especially since he has a youthful intellect.\"
