Final preparations are underway at Al Maryah Island, as Abu Dhabi's business and lifestyle destination gets ready for its New Year's Eve celebrations starting from 6 p.m. on 31st December.
Thousands of fireworks are being set in position, with an estimated 8,000 people expected to watch the midnight spectacle from Abu Dhabi Global Market Square and the Al Maryah Island Promenade.
Ali Eid AlMheiri, Executive Director of Mubadala RealEstate and Infrastructure, said, "We are looking forward to hosting an unforgettable event in the heart of the capital for residents and visitors to Abu Dhabi. A variety of performances, fun, food and shopping will keep the whole family entertained in the build-up to the midnight countdown."
Food trucks are being set up in Abu Dhabi Global Market Square to accommodate the crowd's appetite. Restaurants and retailers are putting in place preparations at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island for late night shopping and dining, with Chefs at the Rosewood Abu Dhabi preparing five star feasts for guests.
Visitors are advised to arrive early to get the best views and allow plenty of time to pass through security. To ensure a pleasurable experience for visitors, access to the waterfront Promenade will be closed once it reaches full capacity and the Promenade will be stroller-free throughout the evening. There will be designated stroller parks in Abu Dhabi Global Market Square North and South so that guests with young children can park strollers securely and join the celebrations. Families can also visit the dedicated children's zone and watch the fireworks in Abu Dhabi Global Market Square North and South.
