Egyptian actress refused being referred to as regime “remnants”, stating that the former regime enjoyed more freedom than now, as there are people who “reject different opinions and only hear themselves, considering those who disagree with them as enemies.” She noted that the Egyptian people are now divided between those who are pro and against the revolutionaries. Shahin noted that the people would not be satisfied until the election of a new president, as they have objected to Ganzouri’s government, as well as Essam Sharraf’s, who had emerged from Tahrir square, not to mention Ahmed Shafiq’s government before them. As for her take on the Muslim Brotherhood and Salafists, concerning the parliamentary elections which they dominated, she said “this is the people’s choice and we have to respect it, but if they consider cancelling the role of art, we will definitely have a say in the matter.” Elham Shahin gave many statements concerning the conditions of the country, before and after the revolution, where newspapers cited her saying that she wants to visit Mubarak in his confinement, while other papers denied such news.
