Libyan artist Hamid El-Shaery has announced that he will produce a musical based on the Arab Spring. He told Arabstoday this work would be a huge production which would take several months to put together. The artist said: “I think this musical will surprise the public: this subject hasn’t been addressed in this way by anyone yet.” In a separate context, El- Shaery praised the Amr Diab Academy, in which he is one of the judges: “I think this programme will become more successful than many other talent programmes.” The judge panel is composed of Amr Tantawi, Hamid El Shaery and musician Adel Haqqi. 30 contestants will take part in the programme, for only one to win the competition. The winner will be invited to New York for an exclusive ceremony hosted by Amr Diab at the end of this year.
