Khayat thanked his fans and announced quitting acting in Syria until “Syria is back to what it used to be”. “Thanks to all who attacked me, and thanks to director Rasha Sharbatji for trying to help me continue filming. I am now available in an open vacation in Abu Dhabi,” Khayat said. Basel Khayat is one of the actors who signed the “Milk Statement”, issued a few days after the beginning of Syrian uprisings.
