Syrian actor Samer al-Masry has told close friends that he supports the rebel Free Syrian Army, Arabstoday has learnt. The performer, renowned for his work in Syrian dramas such as Bab el-Hara and Abu Gantil, was a vocal supporter of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. However, sources have now confirmed that al-Masry, who left Damascus for Dubai, has turned his back on the ruling regime. The actor is the latest celebrity turn against the Syrian regime, after singer George Wassouf condemned the violence and moved to Doha. Arabstoday has been told that al-Masry's turned down several new Syrian projects because he feels alienated by the Syrian regime's offensive.
