HBO\'s miniseries \"Mildred Pierce\" on Thursday dominated the nomination for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards with 21 nods. \"Mad Men,\" a recurrent recipient of the industry\'s premiere honor, was second with 19. A five-part miniseries that first aired on HBO in late March, 2011, \"Mildred Pierce,\" starring Kate Winslet in the title role, was nominated for best miniseries or made-for-television movie, along with \"Downton Abbey,\" \"The Kennedys,\" \"Cinema Verite,\" \"Too Big to Fail\" and \"The Pillars of the Earth.\" Kate Winslet was nominated as best actress in a miniseries or television movie for her lead role in the series. Other nominees include: Elizabeth McGovern for \"Downton Abbey,\" Diane Lane for \" Cinema Verite,\" Taraji P. Henson for \"Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story\" and Jean Marsh for \"Upstairs Downstairs.\" Three performers, Evan Rachel Wood, Melissa Leo and Mare Winningham from \"Mildred Pierce\" also earned supporting-actress nominations. Based on James M. Cain\'s 1941 novel about an overprotective, self-sacrificing mother during the Great Depression, the drama was directed by Todd Haynes and was popular with the audience. Maggie Smith of \"Downton Abbey\" and Eileen Atkins of \"Upstairs Downstairs\" were also mentioned in the category.
